The Stage II Project

PCC CEO Michelle Capobianco chronicles her stage II thyroid cancer journey next to the stories of stage II pancreatic cancer patients.

Two stage II cancers, two very different trajectories

In November 2021, Pancreatic Cancer Canada CEO Michelle Capobianco was diagnosed with stage II thyroid cancer. Fortunately, her chance of survival is 98%. Having been diagnosed with a highly treatable cancer, Michelle wanted to shine a light on the disparity between her diagnosis and the significant challenges faced by pancreatic cancer patients, even in the early stages. Because no one says to a pancreatic cancer patient “if you’re going to get cancer, that’s the one to get.”
