The Opportunity 

The Specialist will be an integral part of a growing and dynamic fundraising team. You have 3+ years of event experience and a desire to grow as a fundraising professional. You are someone who is ready to move quickly, connect with our community of Signature Events supporters while being motivated by the urgent need to make a huge impact on this deadly disease. 

Working closely and with the leadership of the Senior Manager of Philanthropy, the Specialist will contribute to the growth and expansion of a diverse portfolio of our signature fundraising events across Canada. You will support the planning and execution of a wide variety of PCC-run events, several with targeted expansion goals. You will have the great opportunity to build relationships with peer-to-peer fundraisers, donors, and participants to help them maximize their impact and success in a dedicated and diverse community. You will assist the broader development team with stewardship and relationship management activities and be part of business development initiatives resulting from engaged event organizers, participants, and supporters.

What You Will Do 

Signature Events

  • Supported by the Senior Manager, Philanthropy, oversee all aspects of annual signature events from planning to execution of 7 Days, PCC Survival Classic, PCC Run for Survival, and Axe Pancreatic Cancer. Signature events encompasses both peer-to-peer and partnership fundraising models.
  • Ensures effective participant, donor, and volunteer relations including appropriate recognition, acknowledgement and reporting to cultivate relationships with our supporters and ensure the sustainability of events.
  • Reports on revenue and expense numbers to the broader development team and offers strategic, proactive solutions to potential issues.
  • Manage and oversee ticket and sponsorship sales, invoicing, payment processing, tax receipting and financial reconciliation.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing and communications team to promote signature events and ensure updated content across all public-facing platforms including PCC website, luminate pages, social media channels etc. 

Overall Fundraising

  • Maintain an understanding and awareness of best practices for events and support the development of templates that can be utilized across various campaigns and events.
  • Implement fundraising best practices to create efficiencies, build participant journey, and deploy campaign communications.
  • Flag opportunities that arise from a marketing/storytelling or broader fundraising perspective.
  • Procures research to support pipeline development activities.
  • Manage event-related administrative activities using Blackbaud products (Luminate and Raiser’s Edge).
  • Maintain an understanding of tax receipting processes and rules both internally for PCC as well as via the CRA – and being able to communicate accurately with third party fundraisers.

    Qualifications 

    • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in a not-for-profit organization working in event fundraising.
    • Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset with the ability to work independently.
    • Ability to show initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail and creativity.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong listening skills, empathy and patience.
    • Strong communicator with exceptional written and oral communication.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete multiple tasks with a high volume of work, often with tight deadlines.
    • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office suite products and an aptitude for database systems.
    • Experience with or working knowledge of Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, and Luminate platform an asset.

     Special Considerations 

    • Required to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
    • Physical demands of special events including packing, lifting carrying and loading.
    • Constraints of weather elements at sites during special events.
    • Travel within North America is required.

    Salary Range: $55,000 – $60,000/yr
