Why We Ride
For the past 13 years, a group of dedicated cyclists have embarked on a 1,100 km journey over seven days across Southern Ontario to raise funds and awareness to improve the survival rate for pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is a global health crisis. It is currently the third leading cancer killer in Canada and on track to be the second by 2030. This year, over 7,200 Canadians will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 90% of those diagnosed will not survive.
“The camaraderie, the passion, the joy, the fundraising, the stories… all of those things happen at 7 Days. But, more importantly, this dedicated group of cyclists and donors create real change for people facing pancreatic cancer.”
– Michelle Capobianco, Chief Executive Officer, Pancreatic Cancer Canada

DONATE NOW
7 Days was originally founded by Gord Townley to honour his late mother Lorraine who passed away from pancreatic cancer. To date, the 7 Days event has raised over $1.9 million in support of the thousands of Canadians impacted by a pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
“I wanted to do something that felt ‘larger than life’ and ‘earn’ every penny we raised. I have come back in some capacity each year since because of the people. It’s rare to find yourself amongst such an amazing group of riders and people who do this because they can – and if you can, why wouldn’t you?”
With a survival rate of just 10%, pancreatic cancer has taken too many lives, far too quickly. Despite this grim reality, we have also seen an increased momentum of progress in the treatment of this disease over the past five years. This is because of the commitment of dedicate donors who, despite the odds, invest in innovative research and increased awareness.
“The people you meet and the friendships you make when you set out on this adventure are priceless. Each day’s ride is filled with great scenery, changing weather, flat tires, and the sight of the support vehicle for another snack break, but the best time is at the end of the day when we all get together, have a beer, and relive the days awesome ride.”
