Ask An Expert
Receiving a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is a challenging and uncertain time, both for patients and for those who care about them. We know you have lots of questions, which is why we created our Ask An Expert service. We have a team of medical specialists ready to answer questions between your doctor’s appointments, and provide suggestions to help patients, caregivers and families make informed decisions about care and treatment options for this disease. This service is free to use and available no matter your location.
Here are some example question topics:
- Disease questions
- Treatment options and clinical trials
- Wait times
- Diagnostic assessments
- Post diagnosis
- Genetic Counselling
- Diet and Nutrition
- Medical resources in your area
- Financial considerations
- Palliative care
Please note, while we are happy to answer questions and help you navigate this disease, this service is not able to make a diagnosis or provide a second opinion.
A second opinion is often sought when someone has received a pancreatic cancer diagnosis and is deciding on individualized treatment. Second opinions offer an additional qualified point of view and will also help you feel more confident about your chosen treatment plan.
While our Ask An Expert service is not able to provide a second opinion, we can help you locate a specialist near you. As a patient, you have the right to ask for a second opinion to ensure you are pursuing the best course of treatment. You may want to seek a second opinion for:
- A review of scans
- Questions on recommended treatment
- If you are questioning your diagnosis
- Clarification on what your physician has told you
